Yikes, guys, it’s been ages since I wrote a post. *hides under blanket* I know I promised national park pictures, and they are coming, just not yet. Today I have a giveaway to tell you about (trust me, you don’t want to miss it!), plus some exciting writing updates.
I’m delighted to share that Love Inspired Suspense will be publishing my second inspirational romantic suspense (writing as Kellie VanHorn) in July of 2021. My first round of edits are due this Friday, and I’ve already turned in an art info sheet for the Harlequin art team. I can’t wait to see what kind of cover art magic they work for this book!
The official blurb is still on the way, but here’s an unofficial pitch for BURIED EVIDENCE:
When a cold case heats up, the investigation turns deadly.
Forensic anthropologist Laney Hamilton left her small hometown and troubled past behind at eighteen, promising never to return. But when the Chief of Police—her ex-boyfriend’s father—begs for her help investigating remains found in a bog outside of town, Laney can’t refuse. After all, her ex’s twin sister—and her best friend—went missing there ten years ago. But the case isn’t as cold as they think it is, and from the moment Laney sets foot in the airport, it becomes clear someone will do anything to stop her from uncovering the truth.
Sergeant Ryan Mitchell never expected to see Laney again, especially under these circumstances. Much as he’d like to avoid her after the way she broke his heart, her expertise could provide the key he needs to catch a killer and uncover what happened to his sister. Working together soon rekindles old romance, but secrets from Laney’s past could tear them apart. When the killer makes Laney his next target, will Ryan be able to keep her safe?
Work in Progress
In addition to editing, I’ve been busy working on the first draft of a YA thriller. Fantasy is my first love, but it’s also a super-saturated market right now, so why not try a thriller? I’m about 57,000 words in and having a lot of fun torturing my poor characters. 😉 My hope is to wrap up this first draft within the next month. While it’s simmering, I’ll work on some concepts to pitch to Love Inspired Suspense for my next book. I’ve also got another YA thriller idea pricking at the back of my mind, so I’ll be playing around with an outline (or, a pantser’s version of an outline, anyway) for that one too.
My book Fatal Flashback is part of a huge inspirational romantic suspense giveaway going on right now. You have until next Wednesday to enter. Two winners will receive a prize pack of 50+ books AND an e-reader. Who doesn’t love free stuff??
